Solomon Donselleyo Duncan was born on May 28, 1965, to Solomon Duncan and Lonnie Duncan in Chicago, Illinois.
Solomon's pursuit of knowledge was a lifelong journey. He began at Rita Catholic High School, where he graduated in 1983. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Phoenix, where he earned not one, but two degrees. In 2010, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and in 2012, he proudly received his Master's in Education Administration and Supervision.
In 1986, Solomon made a selfless decision to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. His dedication and bravery were evident as he rose through the ranks, becoming a Staff Sergeant within ten years. Not one to rest on his laurels, Solomon challenged himself further, becoming Airborne and Drill Sergeant qualified.
Solomon has been employed as an administrator at the Jesse Brown Veterans Administration Center since 2016. Prior to that, he taught at Robert Fulton Elementary School in Chicago, IL, for 13 years.
Solomon was not just a member, but an active and devoted participant in various organizations. He was a proud member of the Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity, Inc., where he was known by his fraternity line name, "Late Knight." He was also a dedicated member of the Most Worshipful New Jerusalem Grand Lodge, P.H.A. for 41 years. His commitment to service extended to the National Association of Black Military Women, where he was an associate member. If you knew Solomon, you know he was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, stepfather, and loyal friend. Solomon was passionate about higher education and encouraged others to pursue their dreams. Solomon, affectionately known as Donnie, had a smile that would light up the room. He had a heart of gold and always made room in his heart for everyone. Donnie loved a good cigar and whiskey, and more importantly, he loved living life to the fullest. Donnie's favorite song was "Rain" by the Sunday Service Choir, and his absolute favorite song was "Even Me – The "Drip Drop" Song" by Lonnie Hunter. Solomon was a man of love, and he was committed to serving others.
